MayoJou Ch 6
As this chapter will tell, this work makes a distinction between 2 different magic systems (3, briefly mentioned so far, will be explained more in future chapters):
1. the protag is a Wizard, so I call his system Wizardry or Spellcraft
2. I call the residents of Sedia Magicians, and their system Magic (or Magecraft)
3. residents of Afalsal are said to use something different from Magic, but I don't know if they use the same thing as the protag, so I will call them Sorcerers, and their system Sorcery
The problem is, the author himself is not as clear on these distinctions (probably doesn't help that he likes to use English for all magic-related things even though he's not good at English). He clearly calls the protag a Wizard, but then uses the word 魔法 to describe what he does, but 魔法 means 'magic.' In contrast, he calls the Sedia magic users 魔術師, which is more like 'magic technique users.' The way I see it, if he's to be a Wizard, he really should be using 魔術. In other words, the author has the class name and the system name flipped. Wizard (protag) is using magic while Sedia ppl are using spellcraft.
So to be consistent, I'm taking enormous liberty with the translation in flipping it back.
Just something for you guys to know.
Cheers~!
