MayoJou Ch 61

Ugh, absolutely hated this chapter. Gio being such a wuss.

-----

OK things that I didn't like about Iron Fist:

- Danny literally only did 1 kata the entire season. He spent 15 years training and he only knows ONE kata?! Using the same one to focus his mind, to recover his chi, for normal practice ........ you making light of martial arts?

- "I have only the image of victory in my mind" - wtv is that man. Sure, having confidence is good, but when you know nothing about your coming opponents, that just sounds like arrogance. Then he got seriously quite beat up in that fight, so yea, meh.

- He keeps claiming that he trained for 15 years and now has complete control over his emotions ...... he is literally the most emotional Marvel Netflix character among the 4. And every time he thinks of his parents, he goes crazy. Like, who is he supposed to be, Bruce Wayne?! "Oh my god my parents are dead."

- Finn Jones is unsteady on his feet, especially when on one foot. He doesn't portray "a truly trained martial artist," he very much seems like someone who took a few classes and went to the gym a few times. He doesn't even have the abs from "training martial arts for 15 years." And he clearly fights worse than Daredevil. When his very character is based on that 15 years in K'un Lun, being in bad shape, being bad at fighting, and being so emotionally unstable pretty much undermines his entire character.

- I ended up agreeing more with Davos than Danny. He IS a terrible Iron Fist. He grabbed this honorable position, then decided he can't live with the responsibility, and just left. Wtf is that man, Davos is right that K'un Lun would've been much better off if they'd never picked up Danny. Go protect the pass, stupid. It's only for a short while every 15 years, seriously.

- All the kinda-Chinese but not quite Chinese ..... references is what I'll call it. It is pretty much a fortune cookie away from being appropriation.
